We are a trading caste found across India. Our surnames include Sa, Sahu, Bakane, Prusty, Jesty, Pradhan, Behera, Sav, Gupta, Nathile, Gulhane, Shirbhate, Misurkar, Sakarkar, Wathghate, Mandal, Saha, Wanjari, Gorai, Sadhu-Khan, Das, Chothave, Kardile, Dehadray, Shinde, Karpe, Bele, Teli, Lanjewar Asamwar and Prasad. The Hindus among us are called Teli Sahus and the Muslims are called Teli Maliks. Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is from our community.
